Today, Belarus is a recognized leader in the CIS in the field of hematology. Our country performs autologous, allogeneic (related and unrelated) bone marrow transplants, peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplants, and mesenchymal stem cell transplants.
The Republican Center for Bone Marrow Transplantation has been established. Molecular and immunological studies, genetic typing, and other methods are used for comprehensive diagnostics.
Stem cell banks are among the largest in Europe. Innovative technologies used in the construction and equipment of the cryostorage facility allow increasing the number of potential bone marrow donors.
Diseases for which transplantation is successfully used: aplastic anemia, germ cell tumors, lymphomas (Burkitt's, Hodgkin's, non-Hodgkin's lymphomas), myelodysplastic syndrome, myelofibrosis, leukemias, neuroblastoma.
Patients receive medical care that includes: courses of immunosuppressive and polychemotherapy, bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell harvesting operations, high-dose chemotherapy and radiation therapy, transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells from bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cells; harvesting and long-term personal storage of umbilical cord blood.
Currently, a patient has the opportunity to receive a consultation from a hematologist with material collection for research within one day. Telemedicine technologies allow patients from different countries around the world to contact a specialist doctor within a few days after the initial consultation for a final consultation and determination of treatment tactics.
